How it works

One flight, gate to ledger.

  1. STAGE 01

    Tag & pair

    A $0.05 AprilTag goes on at receiving. One handheld scan pairs it to the VIN — identity solved for the vehicle's whole stay, retired at the exit gate.

  2. STAGE 02

    Fly the yard

    The dock launches a pre-programmed mission over every row — about 40 minutes for 1.22M ft², autonomous under FAA LAANC, no pilot on site.

  3. STAGE 03

    Detect every tag

    The tag-finder reads each tag from 35 m, decodes it, geolocates it, and scores its confidence. 97.4% detection, measured in production.

  4. STAGE 04

    Snap to bay, reconcile

    Every detection lands in its bay on the live map and is checked against your yard system. Mismatches queue as exceptions — each with its photo.

  5. STAGE 05

    Answers & analytics

    Counts, variance, dwell, exceptions — synced back bi-directionally, or standing alone as the source of truth where no system exists.

What is KERNEL?

An industrial-vision platform that turns what cameras see over a site into location-tagged, photo-backed answers, sold as per-app subscriptions. Vehicle Inventory is live today; Car Damage is next; Utilization and Chain-of-Custody follow — all on the same flights.

How is this different from RTLS tags?

Active-tag RTLS is a continuous dot: powered tags, per-site infrastructure, no photographs. KERNEL is a $0.05 laminated tag, one dock, and a verified photo record every day — and the only option that can stand up a pop-up offsite lot in days.

Do you replace our yard management system?

No — we verify it. KERNEL reconciles bi-directionally with your YMS and queues the exceptions, each with its photo. Where no system exists, KERNEL stands alone as the source of truth.

Who owns the dock, and who flies it?

You own the dock by default, or finance it through a third party. Missions run autonomously under FAA LAANC authorization, with remote operators from about $15 per flight. KERNEL sells software.

What about weather and airspace?

No-fly days are real and planned for — off-hours windows, a tested airspace playbook, and an operator partner who carries flight compliance. Our variance figures include the weather outliers.

Who sees our data?

You decide. Tenant isolation is contractual today and architectural by design — no cross-tenant data flow without your consent. One operator has already declined an OEM's request to see its record; that's the point.
